Location: Vaughan, Ontario
Client: The DeLuca Family
Issue: Water seepage through basement wall-floor joint damaging finished basement
Service: Full interior waterproofing with drainage membrane and sump pump integration
The DeLuca family had a beautifully finished basement in their Thornhill Woods home, complete with a media room, guest suite, and home office. But after several heavy rainstorms, they noticed dampness along the baseboards and minor water pooling near the back wall. The wall-floor joint (known as the cove joint) showed signs of water seepage, damaging carpet and drywall in one corner of the basement.
Since the exterior wall backed onto a concrete patio and shed, excavation was not feasible. The homeowners wanted a non-invasive waterproofing solution that wouldn’t compromise their finished basement.
Direct Waterproofing recommended a complete interior waterproofing system, ideal for finished basements where access to the exterior foundation is limited. This approach would permanently manage incoming water and protect interior surfaces from further damage.
Project Steps:
The DeLuca family’s basement has remained completely dry since installation. The system now silently manages water entry from behind the wall without disruption to their living space. They were able to restore the media room and host guests with confidence, knowing the moisture problem was solved at the source.
“We were impressed by how efficient and clean the process was. Direct Waterproofing worked around our finished space with care and precision, and the results have been excellent. No more damp floors or hidden leaks.”
— The DeLuca Family, Vaughan
1. What is interior waterproofing and when is it used?
Interior waterproofing is a method that redirects water entering through the foundation wall or floor to a drainage system under the slab. It’s ideal when exterior excavation is impossible or too disruptive.
2. Is it effective for finished basements?
Yes. It’s one of the best solutions for finished basements because it protects walls and flooring from future water damage while being minimally invasive.
3. How long does installation take?
Most interior waterproofing systems are installed in 2–3 days, depending on the basement size and number of affected walls.
4. Will I need to replace my flooring?
We remove only the perimeter flooring near the wall and coordinate with homeowners or their contractors for full restoration afterward.
5. Does this include a sump pump?
Yes, we install or upgrade your sump system as part of the waterproofing package to ensure complete water evacuation.
