The Challenge

Scope of Work:

• Sump Pit Installation: Chose a low point in the basement and excavated a sump basin through the concrete floor.
• Pump Setup: Installed a powerful 1/2 HP submersible pump with a sealed lid, check valve, and float switch.
• Discharge Line: Ran a new discharge pipe through the foundation wall and out to the lawn with a frost-protected exit point to ensure year-round reliability.
• Battery Backup System: Included a secondary battery-powered pump for operation during outages—a frequent concern in heavy storms.

The Result

The Alston home has remained completely dry during recent storm events and spring melt. The sump pump activates automatically, giving the family peace of mind and allowing them to safely renovate and use the basement as a living space again.
