The Challenge

The Novak family noticed water stains and bubbling paint along the lower portion of their finished basement wall. The issue occurred most often after extended rainfalls. An inspection revealed hydrostatic pressure was forcing water through the cove joint (where the floor meets the wall), and moisture was seeping up behind the wall insulation.

Because the basement was fully finished and actively used as a recreation area, the family wanted a minimally disruptive solution that addressed the root cause.

Our Solution

Direct Waterproofing proposed a comprehensive interior waterproofing system, designed to redirect water entering through the foundation walls and floor into a safe, controlled drainage path.

Scope of Work:

• Selective Demolition: Removed only the lower sections of drywall and baseboards to access the perimeter wall.
• Trench & Drain Installation: Dug a narrow interior trench and installed a perforated drainage pipe along the affected wall.
• Wall Membrane Application: Applied a dimpled drainage membrane to guide moisture into the trench system.
• Sump Pump Connection: Connected the interior drain to the existing sump pit for safe water discharge.
  

The Result

The Novaks’ basement has remained dry since the installation, with no further signs of seepage or wall damage. The system was completed with minimal disruption, and the wall was refinished just days later.
