The Challenge

The Amini family reached out to Direct Waterproofing after noticing persistent dampness and water stains along the lower edges of their finished basement walls. The carpeted flooring near exterior walls was frequently damp after rain, and a musty odor lingered throughout the space.

Due to extensive landscaping and limited access around the foundation, exterior excavation was not feasible. The client needed a non-invasive yet permanent waterproofing solution that would preserve their basement finishings.

Our Solution

Direct Waterproofing recommended a comprehensive interior waterproofing system to address the moisture issue from inside the basement without disturbing exterior landscaping.

Scope of Work:

• Perimeter Wall Trenching: Carefully removed drywall and excavated along the interior perimeter of the affected walls.
• Drainage Channel Installation: Installed perforated PVC piping within a gravel trench along the footing to intercept and redirect incoming water.
• Vapor Barrier Application: Applied a dimpled drainage membrane to the interior foundation wall to direct moisture into the channel.
• Sump Pump Integration: Connected the drainage system to an existing sump pump for active water removal.
• Wall & Floor Restoration: Repaired the concrete and restored drywall where requested.

The Result

The waterproofing system successfully eliminated wall seepage, and the basement has remained completely dry and odor-free through multiple seasons. The family was able to retain most of their basement finishings, avoiding major reconstruction.
