The Challenge

The Ramirez family had been struggling with seasonal water leaks in their basement for over a year. During heavy storms, water would seep through the foundation wall and pool along the perimeter of the basement floor. The problem worsened despite patch repairs and gutter adjustments.

An inspection by Direct Waterproofing revealed that the home’s original exterior waterproofing membrane had deteriorated, and the weeping tile system was no longer functioning properly—causing hydrostatic pressure to force water through the wall.

Our Solution

We recommended a complete exterior waterproofing system to protect the foundation and permanently resolve the basement water issue.

Scope of Work:

• Excavation: Carefully excavated the foundation along the leaking wall down to the footings.
• Foundation Wall Cleaning & Crack Repair: Cleaned the wall surface and repaired minor structural cracks using hydraulic cement.
• Waterproofing Membrane Installation: Applied a thick elastomeric waterproofing membrane, followed by a dimpled drainage board for durability and water channeling.
• Weeping Tile Replacement: Installed new perforated PVC weeping tiles wrapped in filter fabric to restore proper drainage away from the foundation.
• Backfill & Surface Grading: Refilled the trench with gravel and soil, regraded the surface for optimal runoff, and restored landscaping.
  

The Result

The basement has remained completely dry through multiple storms since the installation. Moisture levels dropped, and the family was able to fully renovate their finished basement without risk of water damage.
